The way I'm interpreting this is that an upgrade is possible "can be expanded to 32GB" , but it's not something that can be done by the end user "MacBook Pro memory is not user accessible". Do I have this wrong? While I'm nearly certain 16GB will be adequate in the new MacBook Pro I'm about to purchase, I really don't like the idea of being unable to do anything about it should any relevant circumstances change.
Aug 9, PM. Aug 9, PM in response to adamfromtempe In response to adamfromtempe. There is nothing confusing about it. RAM can not be changed after manufacture. It has been this way since the introduction of retina displays in There are no sockets, and neither end-users nor anyone else including Apple can upgrade your MacBook Pro once it has been built.
This has been the case since at least the model MacBook Pro. There are no sockets and no upgrades once it has been built. For many years now, the Boot Drive components are also soldered to the board, and are not upgradeable. Accidentally clicked the 'helpful' button here, sorry BobTheFisherman Aug 10, AM. I'm not rending giant video files, but I do demand quite a bit more from my computer than the average user If I could afford one, I'd be ordering a Mac Pro.
Aug 10, AM in response to adamfromtempe In response to adamfromtempe. As said, RAM can not be upgraded. Only you know your needs now and only you can anticipate what you will need in the future. It sounds like you have concerns that you may need 32 GB in the future. Agreed, for the most part The one piece I can't anticipate is how long it will take for one of Apple's future system upgrades to be resource-hungry enough to warrant an upgrade. I usually prefer to keep my machines longer, but have to let go of that mindset My current machine is actually perfectly adequate I'm just anxious to get rid of the old-style keyboard that's already failed twice.
When it happens a 3rd time, it will be prohibitively expensive, and its resale value decimated. Thanks for your help. Aug 10, PM. Page content loaded. Even if you could, you don't want to do that. And no, it will not void your warranty. Jun 23, PM in response to wjosten In response to wjosten. Well, if you cause damage doing such upgrades, then that damage is not covered by the warranty.
So technically it could void the warranty. Yes, because they can be done by the user. But that doesn't mean the user can damage the computer and still be covered under the warranty. What's in the user manual doesn't preempt what's in the warranty.

So if you are someone who drops or drowns your system you are really looking at a throw-away vs repairing as it will be too costly. There are a few smaller parts but they likely won't fail. I would like a brand new one if thats the smart move with the new generation thats now available if its good for storage and regular usage, heavy school and work loads.
I would like it to be updates the way iphones are for years to come. I also realize some generations of iphones arent worth it based on the specs and I'm sure a laptop is similar in that regard. Just a recommendation. I was looking at costco and saw different models and customer reviews good and bad. Whats a known great apple laptop that is overall satisfied customers and is that what the new macbook or airbooks comparable to?
Thanks so much. Apr 26, by Beee. The construction of the Mac's is better than most Windows PC's. So just looking at it that way Mac's win, just like how most iPhones and iPads win for the same reason. While I do hate Apples direction on how they construct their systems. I still use them and likely will for a few more years.
If you find the 13" is to tight of space on the screen I would wait to see what Apple shows us at the WWDC if not sooner. Maybe a 14" and 16". Okay thank you for your very detailed and thorough responses so much!! Im still looking for a laptop. Not sure which to go for but i know i have to replace this awful chromebook that is so incredibly limited and not at all enjoyable.
Thanks again!!!! Apr 27, by Beee. If you can I would get the 16GB model as it will last longer. May 2, by Dan. Show 7 more comments. Nicholas Pratt III spacecadet Posted: May 4, May 4, by Dan.
